Trauma Surgery
The project involves the modernization of the existing Surgical Department including the creation of an 11th operating room in the middle of the sterile core. The multi-phased project also includes: a new Anesthesia Monitor Lab, Anesthesia support space, offices for the Department Chairman and Chief Resident, as well as the upgrading of four existing Operating Suites, Recovery Room entry and the HVAC system.
Project Objectives:
Accomplish the remodel with a minimum amount of disruption to the department’s operations.
Provide flexibility within the Trauma Suite to accommodate the multitude of trauma situations.
Provide uncompromised, Radiographic Capability in the Trauma and Orthopedic ORs.
Incorporation of self-focusing, three head, orbiting Skytron OR lights in the suites.
Consider in the design the presence of airborne contaminants and strive to create as safe an environment as possible for staff and patients.
Coordinate installation of various equipment provided by numerous vendors. A partial list includes: Skytron, GE Radiographic, Medrad, Medical Technologies, Amsco, Hoshizaki, Metro, Sony, and many others.
Write an appropriate Public Bid/UC System specification that would require the contractor to coordinate carefully with the on going operations and work around the users’ operating requirements.
